Chief Financial Officer
William Butler has 17 years of energy finance, merger and acquisition experience. He is one of the founding partners of Brazos Midstream and as Chief Financial Officer is responsible for all financial functions for the company including capital raising, financial analysis, and M&A transactions. During his tenure in the energy industry, Mr. Butler has led or participated in over $19 billion in financial transactions with a focus on exploration and production.
Prior to Brazos, Mr. Butler served as Chief Financial Officer for Permian-focused Athlon Energy, where he led the finance function from the company’s IPO through its sale to Encana. Previously, he developed and led the E&P equity research practice as Managing Director for Stephens Inc. and was also Vice President and Assistant Treasurer for XTO Energy Inc. until its sale to ExxonMobil. He began his career at Stephens Inc. as an investment banker.
Mr. Butler earned a Bachelor of Science degree in commerce from Washington and Lee University with special attainments in business administration and history.
